MAY/JUNE FAVORITE THINGS
I have decided that I am going to start consistently posting my monthly favorite things. There have been SO many times that I run out of a product, forget about repurchasing (even though I love it), move on to something else, and then months later I desperately try to remember the products I once used. It is a vicious cycle. In order to remember all of the products that I LOVE, I will post here monthly as a way for me to look back at everything. On to the favorites…
RANDOM
Smash — While in Target shopping for school supplies, I saw this cute, little notebook. When I opened it, I found out that it is a customizable journal/scrapbook hybrid of awesomeness. I have been CRAVING some creativity in my life, as well as a place for some of my favorite keepsake photos and cards…this is absolutely perfect! It is so much fun!
Tiki Beach Candle from Bath & Body Works — “Warm as coconut groves and white sand beaches, a delicious blend of toasted coconut, vanilla musk, and tropical island orchids.” It smells amazing! I have gotten so many compliments on this candle and burn it mostly in my living room. Next year, I am going to by tons of these!
Minteas Results in Matcha Chai — I orginally got these to try in my Birchbox. I fell in love with them right away. They are cinnamon flavored, but it is not crazy and overpowering. The tea flavor tones down the cinnamon and they are so satisfying. They claim to help keep you “fit” which I think is sort of crazy, but I love to have these in my bag especially when I am hungry. They are all natural, sugar free, and contain organic tea.
SKIN CARE
Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion — LOVE this stuff! Helps to control my oil throughout the day, is extremely refreshing, deep cleans without stripping my skin, and fights my acne. I can’t say enough good things!
LA FRESH Travel Wipes — I recieved a sample of the Eye and Lips Makeup Remover in my Birchbox and liked it, so when I saw the brand on Hautelook, I purchased quite a few products. The standouts for me are the Makeup Remover wipes, the Oil-Free Face Cleanser wipes, and the Eye and Lips Makeup Remover wipes. They do their job, they are convenient, and feel nice on the skin. I really like the fact that you can get them in singles. I can literally throw a handful in my bag if I am traveling which is so easy! The only negative thing I would say about the wipes is that I don’t really like the texture…they are thin and smooth. I just wish they had some sort of raised texture to them so they don’t feel so delicate.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick — AMAZING. I got this in my little care package from my oral surgeon after I had my wisdom teeth removed…the only positive thing from that experience. This stuff is like my holy grail product. I don’t think I could live without it. It smells like sweet frosting or something, obviously from the cocoa butter and just melts into my lips. It doesn’t just sit on top and feel waxy. It melts in and completely absorbs. It says on the packaging that it can be used for marks, blemishes, and rough, dry skin so sometimes I do use it on dry skin and a scar that I have. I have noticed that my scar is less noticeable and not as dry as it was before. Love, love, love.
True Blue Monoi Oil Body Lotion from Bath and Body Works —First of all, this smells freaking amazing. It is like summer in a tube. It is so hydrating, but it is not heavy or greasy at all. Completely absorbs into the skin which can be a problem with other lotions.
FRAGRANCE
PINK Soft & Dreamy — Not going to lie, I used to hate this scent. My sister used to use this and I literally hated it, but the more and more she used it, the more I fell in love with it. Now I am completely addicted to it and keep it in my bag at all times. It is a very sweet scent.
VERA WANG Princess — I don’t even know what to say about this other than I love it. I am always in the mood to wear it and it never gets old. It lingers throughout the entire day and is never too heavy. I get compliments on it every single time that I wear it.
NAIL POLISH
Essie Grow Faster — I use this as my base coat and my nails have grown so much longer, stronger, and faster. It also helps prevent staining on my nails and helps hold my color on longer.
OPI On Collins Avenue — The perfect red-coral. It is the best coral color that I have found. It is absolutely gorgeous.
Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed Top Coat — Best top coat EVER. Thick and keeps color on so long, but also dries in like seconds. Almost has that same gel like consistency that Seche Vite has, but without the crazy warning label about causing reproductive harm.
MAKEUP
Loreal True Match Liquid Foundation — This foundation matches my skin so well and honestly blends in with my skin. It is light but has really good coverage. I also love the color range because they have warms, cools, and neutrals which makes it extremely easy to match my skin. Most foundations only have one range and are always too orangey on me.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade — I am pale so I use this all over my face and the finish is gorgeous. It just adds this subtle glow to my skin that is so pretty. I concentrate on the tops of my cheek bones and down my nose where I want to highlight, but I love how sheer it is because I love it’s glowy finish!
MAC Ambering Rose Blush — Looks very dark and scary in the packaging. It’s got this brick red color with golden flecks and is sort of intimidating. On the skin though, it has this rosy, natural, pinched effect. It is not shimmery, but it has a very nice glow.
Laura Geller Blush-N-Brighten in Como — Part of the compact has a light pink blush with a swirl of a bronze, while the other part has a golden, yellow highlight. I layer this over my blush and it seriously just brightens my whole face. It makes me look alive and also really helps to soften and blend out whatever blush I am wearing.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin — I have loved this color ever since I got the first Naked Palette. I bought the single eyeshadow because I used up all of it in the palette. It has this rose gold effect on the skin and it really brings out my blue eyes. I use this every single day, especially because it is a very natural looking shade and it super easy to blend. I just swipe this across my lid and put a little of Naked in my crease…seriously, I do this every single day. It takes 2 seconds.
Covergirl Neutralizer — I use this instead of a traditional concealer and love it. It has the perfect mix of yellow and pink tones and matches my skin so well. It masks any redness or darkness that I have and blends out really well.
Loreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara in Blackest Black — Favorite mascara. Nothing else compares. Super dark. Super easy to layer. Creates BIG lashes. Can combine with any mascara to build up lashes. LOVE IT.
Tarte Natural Lip Stain in Joy — Looks orange, but goes on sort of red/coral. It has a minty scent and has an awesome staying power. Even when the shine fades, you still get a nice wash of color.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 54 BOY — Perfect pink lipstick. It is great with natural looks. It is shiny, but not glossy so it is not sticky and stays for quite a while. Completely fool proof; like you can slap it on without even looking and it will look fine.
